The need for physical distancing forced Alberni – Clayoquot Regional District Directors to pass the 2020 budget and 5-year financial plan in a closed meeting without the public or press.
Directors were not able to pass the budget at last week’s meeting, directing staff to bring back reports on how the coronavirus could affect the regional district.
Board Chair John Jack said there wasn’t time to organize live-streaming of the meeting and meet budget deadlines
“We need a financial plan to be passed by March 31st,” he said. “This is the only option, we kind of painted ourselves into a corner.”
Jack said they will post a recording of the 3-hour meeting on the ACRD website as soon as possible.
