WFP and Union reach tentative agreement

After 7 1/2 months on the picket lines, the strike against Western Forest Products could be coming to an end.

According to a news release posted on Western’s website this morning, the company and United Steelworkers Local 1-
1937 have agreed to the terms of a tentative collective agreement.

The tentative agreement is subject to a ratification vote by union members, but the USW bargaining committee is recommending acceptance.

Western’s CEO Don Demens credited special mediators Vince Ready and Amanda Rogers for helping the two sides reach a fair and equitable agreement that balances the needs of employees and the business.
