City Council held a Committee of the Whole meeting yesterday, to begin discussion around the 2020 budget and 5-year financial plan.
$400,000 for upgrades to Third Avenue, $200,000 for the McLean Mill Dam, and $150,000 each for a Community Safety Building and a Welcome To Port Alberni sign are all on the table.
While yesterday’s meeting was sparsely attended, Council is looking for more options to engage with taxpayers, ahead of final decisions that need to be made by May.
Staff have been asked to schedule more budget discussions, and a possible E-town meeting to engage with a vocal online audience.
