Port Alberni RCMP will be joining 15 other communities across BC in launching a new online reporting tool for non-emergency crimes.
Starting next Thursday, Valley residents with email, will be able to use the Online Crime Reporting Tool through the Port Alberni RCMP website using their computers, smart phones or tablets to report property related crimes that are not in progress, don’t require any further follow-up by a police officer, and where there are no suspects or witnesses.
Inspector Brian Hunter said the online system is part of a National program to modernize police operations, and free up frontline officers to respond to more serious crimes or emergencies.
