One of Vancouver Island’s most prolific car thiefs is back behind bars after pleading guilty to stealing a van on Beaver Creek Road in July.
30-year old Jessie Savidant broke away from his normal targets of newer Ford pick-ups, and stole the Dodge van and boat trailer from the Clutesi Marina overflow parking area on July 13th.
Police found it stuck in mud and abandoned on Smith Road later that day, with Savidant’s fingerprints all over it.
Addicted to drugs and stealing cars, Savidant pled guilty to the charges, and was sentenced to a year in jail.
Savidant was jailed for similar crimes in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and barely avoided going to a federal penitentiary with these latest charges but his guilty pleas prevented an expensive trial, saving the court time and money.
