City Council is looking to outlaw outdoor grow ops, but is firmly behind indoor cannabis production.
Council is moving forward with regulatory bylaws for the burgeoning industry, but chose to remove its A1 agricultural lands from the mix.
Mayor Sharie Minions said the city can’t stop outdoor grows on the two chunks of ALR lands, but can prevent outdoor cannabis production on properties like the former airport lands which are zoned A1.
Council will move forward on adding cannabis production to industrial and commercial zones, but residential and now A1 lands are off the table.
