More local loggers are about to be out of work.
Mosaic Forest Management announced late yesterday they’re curtailing harvesting operations as a result of current market conditions.
The shutdown happens on Monday, exactly a month before Christmas.
Few details were offered on the company’s website other than to say they are working with their customers and contractors to manage through this challenging time, will monitor the situation very closely, and hope to get everyone back to work as soon as markets allow.
The Mosaic shutdown combined with the Western Forests Products strike means there is almost no activity in the woods, which could affect other mills throughout the Alberni Valley and mid-island.
Mosaic Forestry is the result of a recent partnership combining Island Timberlands and TimberWest.
