Sewage Lagoon hits final phase

The final part of the city’s new sewage lagoon was approved for purchase yesterday.

The effluent pump station platform is the final piece of the puzzle according to the city engineer, and council approved the $3.2 million dollar expenditure.

Mayor Sharie Minions says after decades of work, they’re finally getting closer to completion

“This is a project that has been in the works for decades through committees and multiple councils and tons of staff members have worked through this project at different steps,” she said. “So when we finally get to completion we will have all of the people who came before us to thank.”

She said the project was put out to tender earlier this year, but staff were unhappy about the high bids, and retendered, which resulted in a bid closer to budget.

No firm completion date has been set yet.
