New Seniors spaces at Tsawaayuus

Seniors are celebrating the addition of 12 new publicly funded beds at Tsawaayuus (Rainbow Gardens).

A collaboration between the West Coast Native Health Care society, the BC Government and Island Health, Society President Darleen Watts said the new facility was full as soon as they opened it up to applications in August.

“So when it was done, they came, and I was here a few times when they started coming in, and the smiles on their faces were just incredible,” she said. “To see them happy like that is wonderful.”

Watts said Seniors sacrificed for us and we as a society need to take care of them.

The expansion of Tsawaayuus (Rainbow Gardens) brings the number of long-term care beds available in the Alberni Valley region to 204.
