Sproat Lake bans styrofoam

Sproat Lake is about to become styrofoam free after regional district directors unanimously passed a motion outlawing the dangerous material yesterday.
Sproat Lake area director Penny Cote said there was a lot of styrofoam collected during a recent beach clean-up event, with most coming from styrofoam billets used in docks.
Beaver Creek area director John McNabb agreed, recommending against a phased-in approach and calling for an outright ban.
The ACRD will send a letter to the BC Marine Debris Protection Advisor asking for provincial support.
