Former Crown Prosecutor investigated

A former Port Alberni crown prosecutor has been accused of misconduct in the Kristy Morrey murder case.
David Kidd was the deputy regional Crown prosecutor during the trial of Morrey’s ex-boyfriend Larry Darling, and according to the Law Society of BC, he suppressed information and failed to provide disclosure to the defense.
Kidd was allegedly offered documents written by Morrey about her relationship with Darling, but he refused them, and failed to tell defence counsel or his replacement prosecutor about the existence of the documents.
The Law Society issued a citation of professional misconduct against Kidd, who retired from law earlier this year.
According to the Times-Colonist newspaper, Kidd’s conduct will be considered at a discipline hearing, and a panel will determine whether the allegations are valid.
