Alberni teens missing amid deadly mystery

A pair of Port Alberni teens are embroiled in a deadly mystery, and are now missing, just south of the Yukon border.
19-year-old Kam McLeod and 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky were travelling to Whitehorse in search of work.
They were last seen heading south back down Highway 37 before their burned out truck and camper was spotted at a pullout 50 kilometres south of Dease Lake.
Officers investigating the fire received information that led them to discover a body at a highway pullout about two kilometres from the scene of the blaze.
Investigators are now working to identify the male body, determine cause of death, and whether there’s any connection with the two missing men.
The incident comes just a few days after the bodies of a young couple were discovered on the side of the Alaska Highway about 20 kilometres south of the Liard Hot Springs, roughly 470 kilometres from the body discovered Friday.
Police acknowledged there are growing concerns in northern B.C. about the ongoing homicide investigations.
The RCMP asks travellers on these remote highways to share travel plans with family and friends, establish check-in times and notify someone if plans change.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of McLeod and Schmegelsky is asked to call Dease Lake RCMP
