The old Arrowview Hotel could be coming down, and city taxpayers will be facing a mountainous bill.
City staff estimates it will cost $600,000 to demolish the decrepit, 3-storey wood building, and council is being asked to approve the budget at their upcoming meeting on Monday.
Bowerman Excavating submitted the lowest bid for demolition at more than $450,000, and further engineering will be required to protect city sidewalks and streets once the work is complete.
The total cost will be added onto the tax-bill of owner Raymond Latourneau, and if unpaid the city would sell the property in a tax sale where it would fetch only a fraction of that value.
