MP Johns claims record funding

With Members of Parliament now on summer break, the race for re-election is the focus for many, including the Courtenay Alberni MP.

Gord Johns released a statement yesterday, challenging the notion that you have to be in government in order to get anything for your constituency.

Johns says he brought $95 million in infrastructure funding into the riding in the past 3 years, compared to the $63 million former MP James Lunney brought in during his 11 years – many while in government.

“So instead of crumbs, we’re getting real investments,” he said. “It’s still far from enough. We’re making up for a lost decade unter the Conservatives, and we’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Johns said his willingness to work with government Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, and senior officials in a bipartisan way helped secure a historic amount of funds for the Alberni Valley.
