Halfway through his 4-year term, Mid-island Pacific Rim MLA Scott Fraser says people in the Alberni Valley have benefitted from his NDP government.
Fraser said people throughout the province will benefit from the government’s affordable child care plan, and the elimination of MSP payments will be the largest middle-class tax break in the province’s history.
He said the provincial strategy to tackle the housing crisis brought hundreds of thousands of dollars in shelter spaces to Port Alberni
He said forestry issues have been a focus for him, and he’s been working with the Ministry of Forests and Mosaic to ensure public access to private managed forest lands throughout the mid-island area.
He said after a public meeting on backwoods access last year, he has been meeting with the private-managed forest land companies to address concerns on all sides of the debate.
Fraser said his governments efforts to keep Catalyst from bankruptcy and protecting millworkers pensions helped more than 300 Alberni families, as the company was sold to Paper Excellence three months ago.
