The regional district has launched a new campaign to get people to recycle better.
Called “Recycle Right at Home”, coordinator Jenny Brunn says some people are still confused about what can be recycled, and how.
“A lot of people are putting flexible plastic in their curbside bins, and we encourage them to recycle them, but they have to go down to the 3rd Avenue Depot,” she said.
Brunn says the different products go to different places for processing, so better separation at the source brings improved efficiencies to the entire recycling process.
She said a series of videos have been produced to help teach people throughout Vancouver Island proper recycling techniques.
