A paraglider was forced to spend a cold night in the Beaufort Range this weekend, but it could have been much worse.
The unidentified paraglider collided with another paraglider mid-air on Friday afternoon, and was forced to deploy his safety chute.
He landed on a steep cliff where members of the Alberni Valley Rescue Squad could not reach him.
Specialized members of North Shore Rescue were contacted along with a helicopter to attempt a long-line rescue, but a snowstorm kept the crews grounded until a brief weather window on Saturday.
He was brought back to the regional airport where he was treated for exposure and minor injuries.
