Liberal Member of Parliament Joyce Murray is in Port Alberni, meeting with seniors as part of the federal budget tour.
Murray, who was recently named President of the Treasury Board after Jane Philpott resigned from Cabinet, said there are many parts of the federal budget that could benefit Port Alberni.
“Port Alberni is at the heart of the island and is in a transition from a more resource-based economy to a more diversified economy,” she said. “There’s also a great deal of support in this budget for tourism and I think tourism will be more and more an opportunity for this beautiful part of our province.”
Murray will host a gathering at the Port Alberni Friendship Centre and will be meeting with Mayor Minions before returning to her home constituency of Vancouver Quadra.
