A Port Alberni couple is $5-million richer after winning Saturday’s 6/49
Ian and Louise Thomas have been buying lotto tickets for the past few years.
Ian, who retired from Coulson Flying Tankers, and ran for city council in 2014 said it was his wife’s ticket that was the winner
He said they plan to stay in Port Alberni in the home where they raised their kids, although there may soon be a new car parked in their driveway.
The Thomas’ big win comes just months after Port Alberni’s John Prpich, split a massive $20-million payday with his lifelong friend who now lives in Nanaimo.
