The Alberni – Clayoquot Regional District received its first application for a retail cannabis shop.
The proposed store would be in a stand-alone building beside the Alberni Liquor Store which is in the Cherry Creek district.
Since Cherry Creek is currently without a representative, the directors from Beaver Creek and Sproat Lake agreed to assist with the public input process.
Similar to Port Alberni, the ACRD has no plan to limit the number of applications it receives, and will address each one individually as they come in.
Tofino on the other hand plans to open the application process for one month and select a maximum of three retail cannabis proposals.
