With 9 months until the federal election, local constituency associations are organizing candidates for the campaign.
This past weekend, incumbent MP Gord Johns was acclaimed by members of the Courtenay – Alberni NDP constituency association.
Johns said he’s proud of his first term in Ottawa, bringing more funding and attention to the riding than has been seen in many years.
The Conservative Party was first out of the gate, nominating Byron Horner by acclamation to run in Courtenay – Alberni.
Horner says if elected he would push for the Port Alberni Transhipment Hub Proposal
The Liberals and Green Party have yet to schedule a nomination meeting.
The next federal election is on Monday, October 21st.
