A prolific mid-island thief received a prison sentence for stealing F-350 pick-ups.
23 year old Craig Hannon was facing 7 counts of theft of a motor vehicle, 4 counts of theft over $5000, and 2 counts of theft under, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possessing break in tools.
He had only recently been released from jail and was prohibited from being in Port Alberni when he committed the crimes.
One involved stealing a truck and trailer belonging to an American fisherman who had traveled to Port Alberni to go salmon fishing.
In another instance, he caused a police chase and used the stolen truck to break through logging road gates off Cameron Main.
With 88 prior convictions including 8 motor vehicle thefts, Judge Brian Harvey told Hannon he can expect to go back to prison for a long, long time if he re-offends after his 2 year sentence expires.
