Norovirus outbreak at WCGH

A norovirus outbreak at West Coast General Hospital has affected one patient, and 4 others are being closely watched.

All units remain open but visitors are being asked to stay home if they’re sick, and staff who exhibit any symptoms have been ordered to stay away for 48 hours, or until symptoms have cleared.

VIHA spokesperson Meribeth Burton said there are signs posted around the hospital, and added cleaning measures are in place.

People who do visit the hospital are asked to practice excellent hand hygiene, wear masks if they have not received the flu vaccine and to keep all visits short.
