Port Alberni RCMP are warning people to be cautious when putting out post-Christmas recycling.
Corporal Amelia Hayden says thieves are keeping watch on who got what this Christmas, and boxes from expensive electronics should be well hidden.
“Break down the boxes and packaging materials and recycle them at the recycling depot, or break them down small enough so that they can be buried within your recycling,” Hayden said.
Hayden also advises that tools, electronics, and any items of value be marked or engraved, and assistance is available at the RCMP detachment.
