A pre-Christmas crash has prompted police to remind holiday revelers about the dangers of drinking and driving.
On Thursday evening, a red Mini Cooper crashed into an apple tree in the 4900 block of Athol St.
The 60-year old driver from Port Alberni was given a 90 day Driving Prohibition and his vehicle impounded.
Port Alberni RCMP Corporal Amelia Hayden says police will be stepping up their efforts to get impaired drivers off the road.
Over the past 10 years, an average of 95 people died in BC each year because of impaired drivers.
