The Huu-ay-aht First Nation has bought in to Western Forest Products.
The First Nation announced on Friday they’ve bought 7% of a newly formed limited partnership for $7.2 million.
Huu-ay-aht Chief Councillor Robert Dennis said the deal will help bring forest activity back to Alberni.
Dennis said they hope the agreement will allow more Huu-ay-aht members to have a career in the forest industry as he had.
WFP President Don Demens and local MLA Scott Fraser were at a press conference in Port Alberni on Friday to help celebrate the deal.
