A Second Avenue house is scheduled for demolition before the end of the year, but it can’t come soon enough for neighbours.
After the owner died in January, drug addicts moved in and destroyed the home.
John Edmonson, who lives next door to the property, says neighbours began calling police, bylaw, and city officials to complain.
He said it got worse after power and utilities were cut, as people started fires inside the house, and began throwing sewage out the windows.
The house and outbuilding at 2622 Second was cleared and boarded up months ago, and city council approved the demolition order on Monday.
Edmonson says they’re happy city council has demanded the buildings be demolished and the neighbourhood can go back to normal.
