The annual Salvation Army Christmas Appeal gets underway this weekend with a kickoff breakfast Saturday morning at Glenwood Center.
Port Alberni Salvation Army Captain Michael Ramsay says the need is growing locally, and they’re looking for volunteers and donors to help raise $100,000 in the next 4 weeks.
Ramsay said they will be preparing 600 hampers for local families, and 300 toy hampers for children, and are always in need of volunteers to ring the bells at a Christmas kettle for a few hours.
People can sign up at the pancake breakfast between 8 and 11 at Glenwood tomorrow morning, or anytime at the Salvation Army on Argyle and 4th.
