Last weeks public discussion about retail cannabis will come before city council on Monday, as they look to fast-track local laws supporting marijuana sales.
A report by the Bylaw Enforcement Manager and acting City Planner will be put before city council, recommending ways to update bylaws to allow cannabis shops to open throughout the city.
Council will be asked to add cannabis as a specific use within commercial zoning, which would eliminate any restrictions about distances from schools or other marijuana retailers.
Public discussion on the issue ranged from suggestions to proceed slowly, to recommending an unimpeded free market.
The council debate begins Monday at 7 pm
