Courtenay – Alberni MP Gord Johns is looking for solutions to the problem of affordable housing and homelessness tonight.
Johns has organized a community discussion and will be joined by BC Housing representatives and Tofino Mayor Josie Osborne.
Johns says housing has become a keystone issue in Port Alberni and across Vancouver Island.
He says renters are paying well-above the recommended maximum of 30% of their income for housing, which means they’re often denying themselves food, medicines, or other essentials in order to keep a roof over their heads.
The discussion begins at 7 tonight at the Port Alberni Friendship Centre
