Another Uptown building owned by Randy Brown has been slapped with a ‘Do Not Occupy’ order.
Last month it was the former CJAV building on upper 3rd across from the RBC. This month it’s a house directly across from the Bread of Life.
City Manager Tim Pley said fire and building inspectors ordered it shut down on Monday.
“There was open electrical wiring, holes in walls, and too many people living in the building in conditions where they wouldn’t be able to escape if there had been a fire,” he said.
The property at 3151 Third Avenue is surrounded with refuse, allegedly stolen from Salvation Army drop boxes.
Pley says it’s the buildings owner who is responsible in making sure their properties are safe.
He said city staff continues to monitor nuisance buildings, and says non-emergency calls have decreased since council imposed the nuisance designation on the properties.
