Catalyst Paper and their unionized employees in Port Alberni continue to negotiate a new contract.
Last week, a message was posted on the UNIFOR Local 592 website that a strike vote would be happening today, but the union’s National representative Jim Nixon says that vote has been cancelled, and both parties will be back at the bargaining table in 2 weeks.
He said the employees took several large concessions to help Catalyst emerge from creditor protection, and those employees now want to start to recovering some of the concessions.
