Port Alberni RCMP say they’ve tracked down the driver of the vehicle they believe struck a woman in front of city hall yesterday afternoon.
Corporal Jason Roth says public assistance helped them in the investigation.
The 54-year old woman struck inside the Argyle Street crosswalk remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses reported the driver of the vehicle initially stopped and checked on the woman but after doing so, got back in his car and drove away.
Police are reviewing footage from a variety of security cameras in the area as they continue their investigation.
Charges have not yet been laid.
