City Council is moving forward on bylaws surrounding nuisance and dangerous properties.
Mayor Mike Ruttan says there are many houses and buildings in need of major renovation or demolition in the city.
He said the Arrowview Hotel is an obvious example of a building that needs immediate action.
Ruttan said the development services director has been instructed to begin the process to force the issue with the Arrowview’s owner.
Council also directed city staff to increase penalties within the nuisance bylaw as another way to force owners to clean up their properties.
