A 17-year old girl was struck and killed at Tenth and Redford.
Emergency crews were called to the busy intersection at 3:15 yesterday afternoon for a report of an incident between a cyclist and a vehicle.
The girl died of her injuries at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.
The intersection was shut down for more than 2 hours as Port Alberni RCMP and the BC Coroners Service conducted their initial investigation.
Police say no further information is being released at this time.
