Opposition continues to grow against Island Timberlands arbitrary closing of access gates around the Alberni Valley
An online petition started by Brian Hagen has surpassed a goal of 10,000 signatures and is now heading towards 15,000
Hagen launched the petition after he found himself stuck behind a locked gate on the Comox Main, contrary to the posted closure time, and he had to hike for 2 hours to get back into cel range.
He says Island Timberlands’ argument that they’re protecting equipment from vandalism is an easy out
He hopes the issue will get picked up by local and provincial governments who will force Island Timberlands to be better corporate citizens.
