An FBI man-hunt ended in Port Alberni Monday night, when local RCMP arrested former Beverly Hills stockbroker Colin Heatherington, who is originally from here.
The 41-year old has been on the run from the FBI for the past 4 years as one of 4 people allegedly behind a stock manipulation scheme that caused investors to lose approximately $200 million.
Heatherington was brought in to Port Alberni Supreme Court to appear by video in front of a judge in Vancouver, but the doors were inexplicably locked and windows papered over and no one was allowed in.
The scheme was allegedly orchestrated by 53-year old Hedge fund manager Florian Homm who was arrested in Italy but was released and fled to Germany where he remains a fugitive.
The 2 others said to be involved were 49-year old Todd Ficeto who surrendered to Federal Authorities in Malibu California, and 38-year old Craig Heatherington who is believed to be in Australia – all of whom deny any wrongdoing.
Colin Heatherington will appear in court in Vancouver tomorrow, believed to be facing extradition to the United States.
