Four members of Coulson Aviation’s Port Alberni crew are in Puerto Rico this week, assisting with the clean-up after Hurricane Irma.
Company president and CEO Wayne Coulson said their Sikorski S-61 and all other aircraft were grounded yesterday due to the visit of US President Donald Trump, but will be back in the air today moving people and equipment around the small Caribbean islands.
Coulson said the Sikorski is one of the few aircraft in the area that can offer long-lining to sling supplies and rescue people who are stranded.
Coulson was contracted through the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the U.S. and could be part of the clean-up for many weeks to come.
