School District 70 continues to move forward on the possibility of changing the name of a local school.
The issue created controversy earlier this year with a proposal to re-name A.W. Neill School because of Neill’s support of residential schools and anti-immigration policies.
The issue was brought forward during the school board’s in-camera meeting last night, and trustee Rosemarie Buchannan said work has begun on developing a process for naming and changing names of schools.
School Board staff will develop procedures and protocols, and present them at next month’s school board meeting, before initiating public consultation.
