A 40-year old man with an alcohol addiction was spared from jail and sent to a treatment facility yesterday
Jean Renauld admitted to stealing 10 bottles of vodka over 6 days from 3 different Port Alberni liquor stores.
Crown Counsel Christina Proteau said liquor theft is a huge problem here, before asking for a 6 month jail sentence for Renauld.
Judge Ronald Webb told the former firefighter that he was about to receive his last chance at a better life, and gave him a conditional sentence order that would allow him to attend the vision quest treatment center and keep him out of jail.
