The city has been asked to forgive development charges for the West Coast Native Health Care Society as they build an expansion on Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens.
Mayor Mike Ruttan said the council will meet to discuss a possible 50% reduction to seniors care home projects, and make it into a bylaw.
The city would normally earn more than $121,000 in development cost charges on a project of this size, plus a further $11,000 in permit fees.
The topic will be the focus of city council’s first Committee of the Whole meeting on September 5th
A request to forgive water and sewer hook-up fees was dismissed however, as the city has hard costs attached to that work.
