Record-setting heatwave continues

Another heat record melted yesterday after the mercury hit 37.3 degrees – beating the previous August 4th record of 36.4 set in 1904

It was the second record-setting day in a row as Wednesday’s temperature hit 36.8 degrees

weather watchers says the smoke from Interior fires probably saved the valley from getting even hotter, saying we could have hit 39 degrees otherwise.

Chris Alemany who runs the website alberniweather.ca says we could possibly beat the record again today, if we surpass 36.7 degrees

12 other BC towns beat records yesterday with Hope hitting 37.2 degrees and Tofino a rare 31.5
