Canada’s top bureaucrat was in Port Alberni yesterday.
Jody Thomas is the Deputy Minister of the Department of National Defence, overseeing more than 130,000 staff.
Brought here by MP Gord Johns, he took her to meet with the Port Alberni Port Authority, Coulson Aviation, and Pacific Coast University.
She met with Wolfgang Zimmerman at the Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences – which she says she has been a champion for, within the federal government.
Johns said there are many partnerships that can be made between Port Alberni and federal departments in Ottawa, and he intends to bring more government Ministers and Deputy Ministers to the region over the next few months.
