The city has signed a new contract with the Alberni Valley BulldogsĀ that maps out a debt repayment plan.
The community-owned Junior A hockey club still owes more than $55,000 to the city, and will hand over a stack of post-dated cheques for monthly payments.
They will also pay a 2% increase on facility rentals, which Community Services Manager Theresa Kingston says is in line with other BCHL teams.
Bulldogs board chair Darren Deluca said they bought a bankrupt organization and have steadily been working at repaying debts, and have gotten their books in order now.
He said season ticket salesĀ and corporate sponsor numbers are similar to the same time last year and they’re preparing this year’s fundraising activities and events.
