Port Alberni City Council gave themselves a raise on Monday.
The 1.87% increase is comparable to other city councils, and applies to city managers as well.
Councillor Chris Alemany objected to a process where council gives themselves a raise, but was part of the unanimous vote in the end.
CAO Tim Pley said a 1% increase was already in the financial plan, and the additional $26,000 will not affect the budget.
A list of the city’s top wage earners for last year was also released, showing 13 people have salaries above $100,000 – 7 city managers and 6 fire captains.
