Further allegations were made against a city councillor for inappropriate use of Social Media.
Chris Alemany had admitted to using a fake Facebook account to get into a social media group he had been expelled from.
Brian Calm, owner of AV Chatter facebook page spoke at the council meeting, demanding Alemany stop threatening group moderators with legal action if they don’t allow him access to the closed group.
“These are members of our community; one of these ladies is 70 years old,” said Calm. “It truly makes me sad.”
Council has asked city staff to develop a social media policy for elected and appointed representatives of the city in the wake of the accusations.
Councillor Alemany apologized at Monday’s council meeting.
“I do want to apologize for what what did transpire on Facebook and I’ve apologized on there,” he said. “I understand that we are always expected to uphold the highest standards of civility wherever we are and whatever media we participate in.”
We asked Councillor Alemany about the latest accusations but he refused comment.
