An aggressive panhandler was sentenced to a month in jail after taking out aggressions on city property and a police car.
46-year old Derek Jones was arrested after complaints of uptown shoppers, but police couldn’t locate any actual witnesses so they released him.
A few hours later complaints started coming in about a man attacking a stop sign with a 2×4 on lower Third Avenue.
They arrested Jones again, and on the way to the police station he began tearing at the back seat of the cruiser with his teeth.
The court heard that Jones was still spitting out pieces of foam as they booked him into cells.
He was charged with mischief and breach of probation.
