More than 100 hikers, hunters and backcountry users gathered on Saturday to offer ideas around locked gates.
The gathering at the Italian Hall was organized by Mid-Island Pacific Rim MLA Scott Fraser who said he has been working to bridge the disconnect between the public, and the private forest companies.
Fraser said the answers put down on paper by participants, will be presented to officials.
Everything from liability waivers to backcountry citizens on patrol groups are being proposed, to ensure the beauty of B.C.’s backcountry isn’t kept out of reach of its residents.
TimberWest president Domenico Iannidinardo will appear before city council tonight to discuss the increased number of locked gates on their lands and ways around them.
