A plan to move the community policing office from the Harbour Quay back to 3rd Avenue has hit a budgetary brick wall.
RCMP officials allegedly told council it would cost more than a million dollars to renovate a former thrift store into a safe place for their officers and volunteers.
Mayor Mike Ruttan said they would have to make the cinderblock walls more solid and install bullet-proof glass for a new police office.
He has asked staff to work with police and submit a financial report before the Harbour Quay lease expires in March.
