City Council will take another run at budget later this month, hoping to stick as close to the promised 3% tax increase as possible.
Councillor Sharie Minions said last week’s budget priorities discussion failed to produce a plan that a majority of council could be happy with.
Minions said if infrastructure needs aren’t addressed, they will only become costlier in the long term.
She agrees a 5% tax increase is too high but says she wants to make sure council is addressing the needs of the community.
She said increasing the number of bylaw officers is also a priority, given the challenges being faced in the community, but believes councils goals can be met without straying too far from tax targets.
Council will hold two special meetings on Monday February 19th – one at 3 pm to review status report items and one at 6 pm to continue budget debates.
